Basic Parts of a Computer

The computer case, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and power cord are the basic parts of a desktop computer. Each part perform a specific role whenever we use a computer.

Computer Case

A metal and plastic mixed box that contain all the main parts of the computer system is known as computer case. Such as the power supply, central processing unit, and hard disk drive. The power On/Off button, one or more optical drives, two or more USB ports and Audio in/out ports are located front of the case.
The desktop case that lies flat on the desk, and tower case that tall and sits next to the monitor or on the floor are two main types of computer cases. And All-in-one computer is a another type of computer that all the internal components built in to the monitor. This type of system does not need a separate case.

Monitor

Monitor also known as screen or Visual Display Unit (VDU) is the main output device in the computer. A video card located inside the computer case is responsible to what we see in the monitor. This video card or Graphic Processing Unit (GPU) can be on motherboard or separate.

LCD (Liquid Cristal Display) and LED (Light Emitting Diode) are the two main technologies used in newer monitors. However early monitors used CRT (Cathode Ray Display) technology. CRT monitors are much heavier and larger than newer monitors.

Keyboard

The primary device to enter text in to the computer system is the keyboard. By pressing buttons or keys data can be inserted. Keyboard contains keys for letters, numbers and special characters as well as keys for specific functions.

Mouse

Also known as a pointing device. The mouse is another important tool for communicating with computers that lets you point to objects on the screen, click them, and move them.

Optical and mechanical are two different types of mouse. The optical mouse has an optical eye to detect movement and it is easier to clean. The mechanical mouse requires regular cleaning to work properly since it has a rolling ball to detect movements.

  1. This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I love seeing blog that understand the value of providing a quality resource for free. Computer backup is an important element of system maintenance, and it’s essential to protect your data from hardware failure or other threats. You may think that you don’t have much to lose if your computer crashes or you accidentally delete a file, but losing your data can be quite devastating. clean pc
